SCOTTY
A couple of years ago, my son-in-law alerted me to an old Serro-Scotty for sale in front of a mobile home in North Georgia. I checked it out -- and bought it for $500. Refurbishing this 1973 Sportsman Gaucho has been a long-term project. It is 13 feet including the hitch. The cabin is only 10 feet long and 6 feet wide. Here are some photos of my progress and links to other sites that feature classic travel trailer renovations.

This is how it stood when I bought it. It was pretty rough inside, as you will see below.
Hauling it home (150 Mile Trip). Actual size is revealed compared to
car. The tires were good, and had classic large-diameter Oldsmobile
hubcaps, which I will keep on it.

Rot all over. This was built with nails and staples. I peeled back the skin, removed the windows and door, replaced the rotten wood, and reassembled with stainless steel screws and gorilla glue. ( My helper is not a Scotty -- but our Westie, named Bonnie. )
...only to discover a broken axle spring late in the project. So, it
now has a new axle and wheels. The frame and underneath were surprisingly
sound. I added undercoating to add more years to its life.
First coat of paint. Didn't care for it.
I tried red. Didn't like it either.
(I'm
using latex house paint -- with a brush.)
(Up on blocks for undercoating.)
Settled on the color "Plum". Matches my vehicle.
